BREAKING NEWS: Cambodian People's Party Secures Victory in 5th Senate Elections

Phnom Penh: In a significant political development, the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has once again emerged victorious in the 5th Senate elections held in 2024, securing 10,052 votes, which translates to 55 seats. This triumph ensures the CPP's continued leadership in the new Senate, reinforcing its position as the ruling party.

The National Election Committee officially announced these results on the morning of March 5, 2024, marking another milestone in Cambodia's political landscape.

Following the announcement, the CPP acknowledged the election outcomes and pledged to work diligently towards enhancing legal frameworks, civic representation, law enforcement, and international cooperation. The party also aims to focus on institutional development and fostering stronger connections between national and sub-national governance structures.

A statement from the party highlighted the election's significance, stating, "The results of this election truly reflect the noble and courageous will of the Cambodian people throughout the country to maintain peace and continue to promote socio-economic development to improve their livelihoods."

The CPP wasn't the only party to make gains in this election; the Khmer Will Party also secured three seats in the Senate, indicating a diverse representation.

The Cambodian Senate consists of 62 seats, with 58 being elected directly in the elections. The remaining four seats are filled through appointments, with two selected by the King and two elected by the National Assembly, ensuring a broad representation within the legislative body.

This election outcome not only consolidates the CPP's governance but also underscores the Cambodian electorate's trust in the party's leadership and vision for the nation's future.
